Membership
Membership of SeniorNet Marlborough Sounds is open to all seniors living in the Marlborough Sounds and indeed further a field should people feel so inclined. At present our members come from a very wide geographic area. Rai Valley, Maungatapu , Havelock, Linkwater, Kenepuru Sound, Anakiwa, the Grove, Ngakuta Bay, Picton, and even Blenheim—just to name a few.
Our prospectus states that people over the age of 50 are eligible but we do not make a practice of asking people their age so if you feel sufficiently mature, even if not yet 50, you are welcome. There is no top age limit and a few of our most active members are well into the 80 plus bracket.
Some sixty plus seniors enjoy the benefits of membership. This includes a monthly newsletter, access to Microsoft applications and operating systems at reduced prices, support for computer problems, information about new technology, a wide range of discounted products and fun classes. Those interested in digital photography have formed a group that meets once a month to learn and share.
Some newcomers know nothing about computing when they attend their first lesson. We provide a friendly and relaxed environment in which to learn. If you are hard of hearing, your eyesight is not the best, you suffer from arthritis or any other difficulty we will do our best to help.
Our tutors offer assistance to seniors from raw beginners and those with quite a lot of experience and with diverse interests from genealogy to computer art and craft. They have all come up through the SeniorNet system and will go out of their way to help those with problems. By the way our tutors are all enthusiastic volunteers and are not paid for their efforts.
Come, join us and get the most from your computer, but above all, have fun learning.
